Selected, refereed papers from the XVII International Symposium on Luminescence Spectrometry (ISLS 2016) will be published in a special issue of journal Luminescence. Oral and poster presenters at the symposium are invited to submit full manuscripts for consideration for inclusion in the special issue. All manuscripts will be subject to the normal process of peer review. Please note that acceptance of an abstract in the symposium programme does not imply acceptance of an accompanying paper for publication in the Luminescence special issue.

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the ISLS 2016 Local Organizing Committee, I cordially invite you to attend the XVII International Symposium on Luminescence Spectrometry (ISLS 2016). The Symposium will be held at Taipei Medical University and Howard Civil International Centre, Taipei, Taiwan on November 22 (TUE)-25 (FRI), 2016.

In XVII ISLS, the main objective is to provide a platform for researchers, academicians, students, practitioners, as well as industrial professionals from all over the world to present their research results and development activities in the field of luminescence spectrometry and their applications. In addition, the conference provides the opportunity for the delegates to exchange new ideas and application experiences face to face, to establish business or research relations and to find global partners for future collaboration.

The island of Taiwan lies some 180 kilometres (110 mi) off the southeastern coast of mainland China. Taipei City is located in northern Taiwan, including the northeastern part of the Taipei Basin and the surrounding hilly region. Many international conferences and exhibitions are frequently held in Taipei, drawing overseas travelers to visit, do business, stay and study in Taipei City. Its ethnic fusion has styled Taipei to become a melting pot of cultural diversity. For updated information please visit the Symposium website at
